The National Guard of Tunisia has arrested four students following their involvement in a serious assault incident inside an educational institution in the city of Ben Gardane. The students entered the school on two motorcycles and assaulted the principal, resulting in him sustaining physical injuries. According to a security source, the incident occurred when the school principal attempted to prevent the students from leaving the campus through unofficial means, before the situation escalated into a direct assault, during which he was run over inside the schoolyard. The incident was described as unprecedented and dangerous. The Public Prosecutor's Office ordered the four students to be detained pending investigation, with the two motorcycles seized, and charges to be brought for causing bodily harm to others and violating official instructions, paving the way for their referral to the trial court in Medenine. Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the Basic Secondary Education Union in Ben Gardane confirmed that the principal of Ibn Abi Al-Diafa School was subjected to a deliberate run-over incident inside the school premises, stressing that what happened constitutes a dangerous precedent threatening the safety of the educational staff and raises urgent questions about school security and the protection of workers within them. The incident has caused widespread shock in educational circles, amidst demands to tighten security measures within educational institutions and hold those involved accountable to ensure the non-repetition of such incidents.
